Judges’ Comments: The stunning, symbolic artwork that extends from the front cover to inside the dust jacket features the specially commissioned illustration Tangia te papa ma ki te pango by James Ormsby and is a kind of indigenous cartography, the work beginning with Whakapapa and moving through to a map of the Polynesian Islands and finishes with the North Star. This attention to detail of cover design reflects the purpose of this anthology of Oceanic writing.
