A freelancer based in Auckland, Jessica recently designed publications for Auckland Art Gallery and Penguin Books New Zealand. With print and project management experience she also designed and published process.

From her first full-time design role at the Govett-Brewster Art Gallery, she went on to design and publish in Wellington, before an enriching 3 years as Senior Designer at the National Gallery of Victoria, Melbourne.

Recipient of the 2010 Clemenger Scholarship, Jessica travelled to leading Museums, Galleries, Publishing and Design houses in the United Kingdom, Netherlands and the United States to discuss emerging publishing strategies.

She is currently contributing to a variety of exhibition, publishing and print design projects throughout New Zealand.

Judges’ Comments Jessica Gomers has a very sophisticated design aesthetic. Her feeling for type and for space on the page is lovely. She also makes innovative use of printing processes and materials. Wonderful to see her beautifully-produced self-published title Process, sit alongside such solid work for a major trade house in Penguin’s The Anzacs. Demonstrates a skill and interest in publishing beyond design which is exciting.
