Judges’ Comments Ko Tautoro Te Pito o Tōko Ao is a beautiful volume that somehow manages to look sumptuous and exciting, yet restrained and serious at the same time. The cover references Māori visual culture while avoiding cliché, with a bold repeat pattern and elements of the Ngāpuhi flag. The design of this book is cohesive throughout with a strong colour palette and harmonious choice of materials. Bilingual text is handled adeptly, spreads are balanced with Te Reo on the left and English on the right. This pukapuka would look stunning on any bookshelf.
