Judges’ Comments Saison is a show-stopper of a book and a glorious object. From the watery silk floral cover, gorgeous photography and delicate colour palette to the laser-cut section dividers, everything about this book was elegant as hell. The delicacy and refinement evident in the design choices made was a perfect match for the food style of the French Café. The entire package including slipcase was beautifully finished. The choice of a light-weight sans serif and a diaphanous script ensures the typography doesn’t overwhelm the airiness of the images. The minimalist approach to the page and illustration numbering is innovative and aesthetically successful, but proves a little complicated to navigate.
