David Coventon is a Graphic Designer and Communication Design Educator with almost 30 years’ experience. After graduating from Central Saint Martins’ Masters in Graphic Design, David co-founded and managed start up studio two:Design London, in Camden for 8 years. The studio grew a portfolio across Music, Arts and Publishing clients, the nature of which David took into subsequent freelance work. First tempted into visiting lecturer work at University of East London, he subsequently became Graphic Design Bachelor course leader at Camberwell College of Arts. Whilst in that role he was a key member of the staff and student team that re-started the Camberwell Press just before the biggest temptation of moving with his family — and huge library of beautiful design books! — to Aotearoa. Settling in Tāmaki Makaurau he has been visiting lecturer at Unitec, had a five-year spell as in house graphic designer brand at Auckland Museum and just completed five years as a senior lecturer at AUT. He is currently at the end of two years serving as the Education Board member of Designers Institute New Zealand (DINZ) and looking forward to the next temptation to present itself…
