“The cover brief was an open-ended doozy: ‘is there some perfect middle-ground between gorgeous type-based design and commercially successful person-in-the-bush?!’
Brief: For the cover, we wanted to overlay type with plant. Sophie did an amazing job staging and shooting this. It symbolises the connectedness of everything, words, stories, nature and plant.”
Judges’ Comments:
“The clever entwining of the font and the plant on the cover works very well and reinforces the theme of foraging. The New Zealand landscape photography reflects the content beautifully, while the consistent typographic system throughout creates a strong sense of cohesion. Generous spacing and considered layouts allow the content to breathe, creating a calm and highly usable reading experience.”
