“This was not a super prescriptive brief, but we did know that we wanted it to be illustrative, with an artist commissioned separately to create an illustration of the main character Mareikura. We wanted it to be bright with bold block colour, standout typography to highlight the strikethrough aspect of the title, appealing/accessible to a broad range of readers, with strong, youthful energy and a look that would stand out against all the international fiction that dominates our shelves.”
