Typography: Feijoa is set entirely in the Klim Type Foundry typeface named Feijoa, including the title. It felt important to use a NZ-designed typeface for this project, and we were thrilled with the result- as was Klim’s Kris Sowersby.
Publisher’s Brief
“We briefed Feijoa with accompanying picture research of old botanical drawings. We envisaged the cover as illustrative and wanted it to work as a piece of serious natural history that would also make a beautiful gift.
We knew of the Klim Foundry Feijoa font and wanted to use it. The palette echoes the feijoa in different stages – the white flowers, greens and reds. With high ambition, we aspired to awards recognition for design and content, and as though we manifested it, the book was longlisted for the Ockhams and now shortlisted for the Design Awards, we are incredibly proud of this pukapuka.”
