PANZ Book Design Awards

Entries for the PANZ Book Design Awards are open to any New Zealand book, including educational, children’s, general fiction and non-fiction. The design work must be undertaken locally, but typesetting and printing may be done overseas. Books must be published between 1 January and 31 December of the previous year. Designers must be New Zealand citizens (by birth, naturalisation, or immigration) or be permanently residing in New Zealand.  Information about eligibility and criteria  and how to enter the 2026 PANZ Book Design Awards will be available at the end of April.

Hachette Aotearoa New Zealand Emerging Designer Award

To be eligible for this award, designers must have been working in the book design industry for no more than 5 years as at 31 December the previous year, New Zealand citizens (by birth, naturalisation, or immigration) or be permanently residing in New Zealand.

Information about eligibility and criteria for the 2026 Hachette Aotearoa New Zealand Emerging Designer Award will be available in April 2026.

Designers are asked to submit up to four book designs completed between 1 January and 31 December of the previous year. The design work must be undertaken in New Zealand, but typesetting and printing may be done overseas.
