The text and heading fonts were chosen to tie in with the title: Matariki Around the World. Active Regular was used to add a less formal and friendly touch in keeping with it being an activity book. This font was also used for the title.
For the cover we showed the activities as glowing outlines in the sky to tie in with constellations and Matariki. For the back cover we used a crossword device to list the activities within the book.
Publisher’s Brief
“To create an accessible and easy-to-use activity book which tied in with the title: Matariki Around the World. Created in black and white, the activities needed to be clear and easy to navigate, especially the ones where there were stage-by-stage instructions to follow.
Paper stock had to be reasonably thick and smooth with good opacity and sturdy pages, so the pages would stand up to colouring and writing and without show-through.”
