Rachel Clark has worked in various design roles over the past eight years and has found her place in publishing. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Graphic Design and has been able to grow tremendously over the past few years with Penguin Random House. She enjoys the research, development and refinement of each book, and delights in seeing the design process unfold from a good idea to a great publication.

Judges’ Comments  A well developed and varied portfolio, Rachel Clark demonstrates a nuanced understanding of the elements of book design. Typography, so often a giveaway for an inexperienced designer, is used thoughtfully with an eye on contemporary practice. Her work can already sit equally among those in other categories, as the judges were impressed to find upon reaching this category after the others. Emma Jakicevich showed a strong and consistent responsiveness to production values and understanding of the book as a physical object. From illustrated children’s book to photography lead publications, the design is confident and demonstrates a clear response to the subject at hand.
