Judges’ Comments. The winner pushes typography outside of its usual boundaries in a book for adults. In Little Gems, the words don’t just complement the illustrations, the words become the illustrations. The colours, textures, cut-outs, shapes and handcrafting are a joyful and expressive celebration of letterforms and type, and successfully convey the book’s messages.
